A lot of people don't go any more. It is mostly a contest of who has the best paint
job on their RV. Not a motor homes. RV airplanes. Ramp Vermin :-)

It is very very expensive to get in and hotels are ripping people off.
Just not worth it for me. Next to nothing really experimental.
The experimental has been taken out of the EAA.
They are the AOPA of KIT aircraft . Tab A in slot B.

I am not a member anymore because the magazine is merely a waste of forest resources.

I was there Mon & Tues. It is a tolerable in-state 6-hr drive for wife and me. Slept in friend's basement 30-mins N of OSH but it is still expensive.
I went there to meet some fellow plans-built aircraft builders, but we are becoming a rare breed. I manage to pick up some components from a friend.
The inexpensive-parts vendors had sold out of everything I wanted before I got there :) . I developed a sore-foot so did not explore as much as desired... saw no rotary projects at all.

Saw some interesting/nice looking composite props, I could have learned more if I spoke Chinese (sterna-propeller.com)

The impressive military aircraft of years-gone-by were still scarce, although a Galaxy transport did pull in on Tue PM

I doubt if I will attend next year unless the WX forecast is good and Hillary loses

BTW. One can call EAA and get a basic-membership for $10/yr (no magazine). Discounts for member and spouse/guest at OSH makes it $pay

For me flying commercial is a pain in the butt. It is a whole day project.
2 hours to get to LAX $12 dollars a day to park the car at LAX. 2 hours to get through
the TSA. The only practical closest air port is Chicago. $300 to $400 for a ticket.
Getting a rental car takes hour and a half. Another $100 to $200. 4 or 5 hour
drive to OSH. Then hotels and they charge you an arm and leg to get in.

The C182 would be no better at 100LL gas $5 gallon. 12 gallons an hour. Add a day each way
unless you ran into one of those nasty Midwest thunder storms and had
to wait it out somewhere for an extra day or two. Meanwhile every street corner in
Ventura has a middle age healthy person on it begging. If that c&%$ wins you can kiss
this country good bye. It was invaded by the Chinese and Mexicans with out
firing a shot and they won.

No where near worth it.

I stay a member because of the lobbying value.
