I was going to use this to charge the battery in the motor home in
case it ran down to the point where I could not get it started. I
also used it when I was developing the ignition system.

Hi Paul,
a bit off subject, but I thought it was worth adding.
All my cars are autos so flat batteries are always at the back of my mind.
I bought a car jump starter kit for $75 six months back and ran a test on the seller claims; - namely can give 10 starts on large engine vehicle.
I have a 4 liter Ford Falcon so I isolated the car battery and put the Starter to the test. Well it easily gave me 10 starts and I would say maybe 15 if required. The unit is rated at 18000mAh and uses Li ion Ph batteries. I now have two units.
A lot less hassel that a motor/generator.
