Hi Steve,
How is it going? Did you get the engine problem fixed?
I decided to use a Glasair for the 4 rotor Reno racer.
That means I need to move the firewall and pilot aft. Could you stick your
cell phone in there behind the firewall and take some pictures.
I want to see what I will be up against. You will need a flash
or perhaps a light bulb. If you can scan some of the plans in
that area that would also be great.
I think I will use one Maximite per rotor for the EFI.
Why not? They are low cost. I'll use another for the EFIS.
The analog inputs are high impedance so four or more Maximites
inputs can be connected to one sensor if need be. Of course
multiple sensors could be used as well. Lots of computer
power and lots of redundancy as well. Motec and Haltech
both sell a range of sensors compatible with the Maximite.
Same goes for the mixture adjustment pot on the instrument panel.
I decided to move the turbo aft of the engine now that I understand
the turbo exhausts manifold better. It is exhaust gas velocity driven
and not pressure. That will also simplify the motor mount.
I looked at a Lancair Legacy and it has the same aerodynamic problem
as the Sea Hawker Glass Goose to a lesser extent. The Glasair tail
cone is also five times stiffer in torsion as well. It has already gone
400 MPH.
The gear box will be Alison truck TX based.
