Paul, I realize you built your turbo compound engine for static testing,
but what would it take to turn it into a semi-flying demo, as a proof
of concept for what Dale is suggesting witha  4-rotor?  After all, you
could dyno it the same way you’re doing the TTC engine, with a prop,
even if it never leaves the ground.

Naw. The turbo compound system is being built and tested by
the Formula 1 teams. Each spends a couple of hundred thousands
dollars per year on R&D. Nothing like wars and competition to make rapid
advances in technology.

The first turbo compound car will appear any day. Especially if
the gasoline  prices go up again.

I would rather work on the Reno racer. Certain aviation journalist in
high places are getting very interested.

Imagine if the rotary was invented first and somebody showed
up with a Rube Goldberg piston engine :-)

You had a very different goal than the Formula 1 teams or, for that matter, long-haul diesel engine designers who have been doing lots of R&D on turbo compounds for decades.  Your goal was to prove that turbo compounds were a good match for rotary engines.  It seems to me that diesel engine designers and Formula 1 teams aren’t really doing anything to prove Paul Lamar’s long-held assertion that a rotary engine could be fuel-efficient.

Rumor has it the new Mazda RX9 or whatever they call it is a turbo compound hybrid.

350 HP and 30 MPG around town.

Sometimes the Japanese engineers  work together and Honda is building a
Formula 1 hybrid turbo compound.

Now if you have a dyno and would like to test my 3 rotor TC it that is another matter.

I’m in Albuquerque.  My thought was that you’d “dyno" it using the same
technique you’ve been using for the TTC.

That is a $3,000 Motec system. There are better things to spend the money on now.
We need to make an impression on the engine market for experimental aircraft.
