Hi!: I own three of these OMC 45 HP rotaries, not started yet. Regarding the possibility of an intercooler, Norton obtained an improvement in efficiency by making that only air and a bit of oil passed through the rotor, always full throttle, then, the incoming air was send to a plenum chamber, where temperature was reduced, and send to carburetor, where mix had another temperature drop before entering the peripheral ports, this yields a much better volumetric efficiency and bmep.


Their last unit was a two rotor, and for idle, just one of the rotors received mix, the other pumping only air, this made idle more stable, and improved fuel economy. Attached please find two documents about Norton rotaries.


I'm thinking in passing only air for cooling the rotor in one of my small Wankel engines, but don't have an idea yet about how to implement this.  Suggestions?
