Thanks to Paul and everyone who replied to my list of questions –
That gives me enough information to keep me busy for a long time – But
always welcome more info -
After I digest some of the information I suppose I’ll have some
other questions –
Took a few of the OMC Wankel parts to the local airport to use the
glass bead blasting machine – Works pretty well on aluminum as well as
steel -

Be careful using glass beads for any areas exposed to the combustion
chamber heat. Aviation spark plug manufacturers prohibit cleaning plugs
with glass beads or sand because it is impossible to get all of them out
because fragments get embedded in the base metal. Using spark plugs as
an example, the glass fragments will fuse and cause a short circuit. In
the apex seal area I would expect it could cause issues with sticking
seals. I use Garnet that I get from Tractor Supply in a big bucket for
about $80.00 for blast cleaning engine parts.
I am overhauling a TSIO 360 and the manual prohibits using glass or sand
for cleaning. Same issues.

I think crushed walnut shells works well and debris not removed is soft
enough to be non damaging. The coolest blasting media I have heard of is
dry
ice.
