    Looks like the RX9 will have a turbo charged 16B with 400 HP.

    Aluminum end housing so no need to reinvent the wheel for a LSA one
    rotor.

    Here is the patent discussed.

    Not mentioned but it might be a turbo compound hybrid.

   No new invention discussed in that pdf. Taking the same ports and just swapping places gave no new product. All that is accomplished is the heat is put out the top away from body and battery banks. Less than weak patent app. It address only their mountings and not the Wankel engines dynamics. IMHO. A simple petition and Judicial injunction could stop the nonsense filling.

   The people in the patent office are not competent in a lot of fields so they can't tell a good patent
   from and old  or bad idea. Some of the dumbest things have been patented. Especially
   if the patent t is complicated and wordy :-)

My reading finds Mazda found rotor width over 75 mm did not let the flame front get to the sides of the rotor. 16X rotors go back to 12A width of 70 mm. As I wrote in a previous post, I think Mazda engineers will use the rare 13A engine eccentricity as e-shaft bearing dimensions are developed saving cost. Same goes for the timing gears.  The 13A radius to eccentricity ratio was 6.875:1 instead of the now used 7:1 ratio. I think that to further increase torque they will use a radius of 125 mm with the 17.5 mm eccentricity. This will give a displacement of 3182.6 cc which is real close in Mazda speak for 16X. In Mazda world that is 1591 cc. Naturally aspirated power could be 290 based on RX8 numbers with displacement increase alone. With a turbo 400 HP would be real easy. Add in power recovery and more boost and I could see 700 HP street drive able.

Narrow rotors have drawbacks as to the oil pressure in the rotor bearing.
The rotor bearing limits the RPM.

They could have used two plugs or four plugs some side by side.
