 This guy is basically selling his hi priced booklet full of crackpot
 theories. I looked at some of his youtube vids and his blog. I was
 then able to decode his unintelligible circuit description. The
 concept is valid on paper, however the implementation is surely
 unreliable. The 20kV diode is going to be subjected to hi current
 spikes that probably exceed its 2A rating. I ordered some of these
 diodes and plan to make some measurements, which I'm sure he is
 incapable of. Will report in 4-5 weeks when diodes arrive. Meanwhile
 don't even consider it for your lawnmower.

 It is easy to make a still picture like that with an old film camera.
 You just leave the lens open longer than necessary.


 It must also need to spark in a pressure chamber at 1500 psi or
 higher. Air is an insulator. Particularly at high pressures.

 nuclear fusion reactors)."

 That is pretty general. Perhaps all sparks are plasma.

Hey Paul,

Plasma is in fact an ionized gas.  A spark is the visible emission of
energy from the gas atoms as they are split apart by the huge electric
field between the electrodes forming a conductive path for the flow of
electrons across the gap between the electrodes.  That flow of electrons
in that current are those "free" electrons in the plasma that were
ripped free from the gas atoms by the force of the electric field.

Atoms with electrons torn off are called ions.  Thus a spark is in fact
a conductive path made from ionized gas.  The flow of current across the
gap heats the ionized gas to very high temperatures causing the gas to
expand violently.  That is what generates the sound you hear when the
spark jumps the gap.  It's thunder on a minuscule scale.
