Meanwhile, I have a serious question about props. How difficult
is it to put a CS prop on a Wankle? I'm a bit puzzled about where
one would put the prop-governor -- oil or electric.
I've only just gotten some intro A&P books to read (because of
the orals for a Commercial Pilot's License).
And I too am thinking twin engine.

It is real hard or expensive to put a CS on a Wankel.
Bottom line is you don't need it. Set your pitch for cruise and
due to the exceptional power to weight ratio it will take off fine.

What about an electric adjustable? I believe it's ben haas that
has the ford stroker engine in a maule an is using a cog tooth belt psru
and has an electric in flight adjustable on his that looks fairly
simple. He has a video on YouTube that shows his set up.

Yes they will work. They are $10,000 and up. More than the engine
and gear box.

Lol ok that shot that in the butt, didnt realize they were that
expensive.
I have been curious though not so much for the adjustable
but more towards beta props for seaplane/amphibian use .

The BETA system on a PT6 is interactive with fuel, control/rpm, all
you need is a reversing prop, like the SeeBee
came with standard, for water use.

That's what I was meaning sorry a out the confusion. Reversing prop not
beta, I always see them referenced as beta props when they are talking
about the sea/amphibious. Tentatively, not sure how large or how any
blades would be needed, but figured I would wait till I have something
to put it on before I worry about it.

The key to our design was the hub was tig welded 4130 chrome molly
thick wall tubing. Much stronger than aluminum anything.
The other trick was how we fed the balls into the ball bearing
that reacted the high centrifugal load from the prop blades.
We used two ball bearing round ports just a bit larger than the diameter of
the balls.
The hard part was the blades but that has changed with the advent
of the defacto standard Warp-Drive/Sensenich ground adjustable hub.
The pitch change motor is off the shelf. It would now be much
easier to make our home made CS and reversing prop.
