Meanwhile, I have a serious question about props. How difficult is it
to put a CS prop on a Wankle? I'm a bit puzzled about where one would
put the prop-governor -- oil or electric.

I've only just gotten some intro A&P books to read (because of the
orals for a Commercial Pilot's License).

And I too am thinking twin engine.

It is real hard or expensive to put a CS on a Wankel. Bottom line is
you don't need it. Set your pitch for cruise and due to the
exceptional power to weight ratio it will take off fine.

What about an electric adjustable? I believe it's ben haas  that has
the ford stroker engine in a maule an is using a cog tooth belt psru
and has an electric in flight adjustable on his that looks fairly
simple. He has a video on YouTube that shows his set up.

Yes they will work. They are $10,000 and up. More than the engine and
gear box.

Lol ok that shot that in the butt, didnt realize they were that
expensive. I have been curious though not so much for the adjustable
but more towards beta props for seaplane/amphibian  use .

Some of the guys on here built one years ago. I did some of the

The BETA system on a PT6 is interactive with fuel, control/rpm, all
you need is a reversing prop, like the SeeBee came with standard, for
water use.

That's what I was meaning sorry a out the confusion. Reversing prop
not beta, I always see them referenced as beta props when they are
talking about the sea/amphibious. Tentatively, not sure how large or
how any blades would be needed, but figured I would wait till I have
something to put it on before I worry about it.

Beta mode is when we control the prop pitch manually and it is used
at the ground idle and reverse pitch settings. Any power setting
above ground idle the prop governor controls the RPM through the
pitch. When we go down below flight idle to ground idle or reverse,
we are controlling the pitch and throttle through linkages manually.

Nice design on the prop, Paul.  Did it work as intended and was that the
only one?  Did you hook it up to control engine speed?

By the way, what ever happened to the guy in CO that was going to do
redrive parts?

We never flew it to my knowledge. I think butch had custody and I lost
touch.

I don't know. I think his ISP considered me spam so I could not contact him.
I drove out to see him and he said he would fix that but he did not.

He also owns a gun store and makes a lot of gun parts and other things
for various companies. He is way out in the country in the mountains
and it is very time consuming to drive there.

I am working on the design of a new lighter gear box.  In fact several
sets of prop shaft bearings should be in next week.

Getting the NC mill working has priority as some of the gear box
parts need making on an NC mill.

Everybody I know with NC capabilities are up to their ears with
work. They are not interested in low volume rotary engine work.
One must keep ones nose to the grind stone so to speak to make
those payments.

That's why I am doing it. I don't have huge payments on $30,000
and up NC machines. I bought the old Kasuga used outright years
ago. It is paid for.
