Are any of you here needing a gearbox in the near future, and if so
how many? I am going to make myself one and as long as I'm at it
might as well make a few more.

Kevin Alderman

Good idea. How much?

Send us a proposed dwg Kevin.

What dwg software are you using?

Paul Lamar

Me. High reduction, bell housing, alternator provisions, oil fed gov
 reduction pad--- Marc Wiese

Alternator belt drive like Mistral? Bad idea. What is the matter with
the back of the engine?

Oh you mean built into the flex plate. Good idea.

Oil fed gov?  A hydraulic variable pitch is another bad idea. Way
too heavy. Half the weight of an aluminum rotary.

I am going to need 2 but they will need to handle 50lbs + or - of
rotating prop mass and 350 hp between 8000&9000 rpm. Do you have
pics /specs of one?

James whitehurst

James, I have a set of Allison planets that I am working on incorporating into a gearbox.
That should handle anything that you throw at it. Are you considering a metal CS prop?
