The wankel is trying to set a fire in a wind storm.

Nothing burns up wind.

They don't call   it a rotating combustion chamber for nothing :-)

IMHO the problem won't be solved until that is changed. They should
blow some air in the reverse direction.

One way to do that is have a double layer combustion chamber and use
 the air flowing in the basement up, around and back to slow the air
 flowing in the living room where the fire is :-)

If the ceiling is low enough in the basement the air  won't catch
fire in the basement due to flame quenching and the lack of fuel in
the basement air assuming direct injection in the living room.

The slot that allows the compressed air to enter the basement will
reduce the pressure that causes the squish flow in the living room in
the first place :-)

Pardon the analogy with a house on fire :-)

Paul, While testing with my combustion pressure sensors I kept
getting about 6 to 12 random preignition cycles on a 3000 to 8000
RPM pull. My thought was that it was from the exhaust reversion from
the prior cycle. I was afraid the early timing would cause detonation
but it never did.... In fact the burn rates were improved. So now I
am trying to seed the ignition with reversion gases.

I quoted earlier in our conversations about a Honda 2 stroke study
where they made a reversion type ignition that would operate
partially without its regular spark ignition.  They used it in their
Dakar racer! It had a very good BSFC.

I am theorizing that it may even be better to use the trailing plug
position for seeding the passing hurricane of mixture flow. I will
be using though The attached seeding apparatus in the leading plug
position for the first experiments. It has not run yet. I need a
computer like the Motec to coordinate the system. Barry Bordes

Barry, Take a look at a $60. Maximite. They are very very easy to
program. You don't get the source code with a Motec. I can help you
get up to speed on the Maximite. It is also much much cheaper than a
Motec.  The Motec cost $1000's. The Maximites  are so cheap you can
use one for each rotor. That gives them more time to deal with
things. You can use one for the ignition and another for the fuel
injection. Four total. I recommend using the wide band  O2 sensor to
control the mixture in a closed loop. They also function as
recorders so you can look at what the engine did on every run.
