Building Projects Vision

Hi Paul, we have had a couple of Visions built at Serpentine. One had
a Subaru engine, reg VH WRX, and flew OK, though the airframe was a
bit heavy. The other is still under construction and has 6 inches
added to the cabin height as the builder is about 6’6” tall. Rs, Dave

Dave: You don't have contact with the builders or possible contact
details of the flyable version of the Vision.?The builders group is
not a very active and only a small group sharing there experience.
Will contact you in private for the details. Forgive me Paul for
reaching out on this group ,as to get hold of our family of
builders. Much appreciated.

The Internet and this newsletter never seizes to amaze me. Le Roux
and Dave are just across the Indian ocean from each other. And I am
on the exact opposite side of the globe

You guys can use the newsletter. I am sure there may be one or two
more Visions being built on here.

two and maybe I can get some pics. The guy who built the flyer has
passed away, but the airplane is still around. Rs, Dave McCandless

I have Vision plans. But I've never had the time to actually build

With dry sump engine 90 degree turn(plugs up mount) Must I move the
engine mount points from the current position inwards to have the

Why are you doing plugs up? The oil will drain out of the rotors
and main bearings better if it is in the normal position. I would
only do plugs up if the end plates and center housings were designed
for it.

Looking at the firewall from the front it is best to move the left
side mounting hard points top and bottom in about 2 or 3 inches.

That gives more room for the cooling radiator. It is easy to laminate
a little more wood an the back side of the firewall to stiffen it up
in bending. That will only be necessary for the top mount. You can
also bolt in a 1/2 inch diameter steel tube running to the joint
between side skin and instrument panel if you are worried about it.

there a cowling available for the vision? Or do you have to do your
own cowling? I need the dimension of that before I can do a universal
mount tube lengths.

There is no cowl for the Vision you have to build your own.

Do they sell Dodge Rams pick up trucks in South Africa?
Dodge Ram's are now owned by Fiat. My Dodge RAM is called a Ducata
in the rest of the world.

I ask because the rads are ideal for cooling.
This rad core is 20 by 30 inches.

Here are the tube dims. The round tubes must be shortened by 2.5 inches
to accommodate the rod ends. The two lower square tubes by about 1.25 inches.
