How many people are building airplanes?

 Hi Paul, We met a Narrowmine a few years ago and I have been
 following your blog ever since.

 I have recently taken over the manufacture of several aircraft. The
 Sadler Vampire, Morgan Aeroworks ( now called Wedgetail Aircraft)
 line including the Sierra and Cougar.

 We have had a lot of interest in the Vampire from Europe and the UK
 as it fits a lightweight category. I am thinking of changing the
 design to mount the Austro rotary behind the rear spar. Any thoughts
 on this engine would be appreciated. We have a couple of these motors
 at my airfield ( in motorgliders) but the cramped installation causes
 problems not engine related.

 I would like a lightweight single rotor of about 60+ Hp, a larger
 single rotor of 120+ Hp and a two rotor of about 150+ Hp.

 That is very interesting. You will need about 100 HP. The Vampire
 design is too big for anything less. The Austro is limited to 55 HP
 which is marginal for the Vampire.

 The Vampire is a versatile design as Rotomax was using that design to
 show case the 150 HP Rotomax engine.  Unfortunately they were using a
 German rubber coupling design that was flawed. It failed and the
 airplane crashed. No loss of life but it bankrupted Rotamax. We
 solved that problem with the TTC design rubber coupling.

 Well you are in luck as Promaz in Melbourne is now building all
 aluminum one rotor engines at relatively low cost. I highly recommend
 working with them as it would be highly advantages for both of you.

 Neal Unger is working on a gear box in Parkes  NSW so you will need
 one of those. Or a 3:1 belt reduction.

 I think I made a mistake on the price of the Promaz end housings. I
 thought it was $2,000 Oz but it is  $2,000 US which is a lot more
 money. I think racing Beat is selling them cheaper in the US. Last
 time I checked it was $1500 US at Racing Beat. The Oz dollar is 74
 cents US.

 My project a Vision Ex with a 13B.The fuselage will be completed this
 year.
Its getting colder here and i will work more on the Fire Wall Forward
 package until the epoxy seasons starts again in September.
