Here is my new Chinese sliding door latch. $2 at Harbor freight.
Works like a charm.

My advice is take out the stock Brose latch while you can still get
the door open and replace it with this.

Hi Paul,
just interested in how that $2 latch fits. Is it a Dodge replacement part or is it a generic that you will alter the door to accept?

No alterations required fits perfectly. So does a  C clamp.

There is a switch in the door telling the instrument light
if the sliding door is closed. The other doors will not lock unless that
switch is closed
