Hello Paul,
I run into this little micro processor. A development system can be
have in China for $2 each in small quantity.
The system comes with WiFi, and USB connector. You can download an
IDE and start programming away.
Many modern language had been ported over. One of your favorites,
BASIC is also there. I am attaching a language reference which
includes the basic language, and a bunch of add on libraries for use
in different scenarios. The following link is the basic
implementation on this very low cost, WiFi ready, basic SOC

Here is the web site on the basic stuff

The development kit to get is NodeMCU with 8266 chip.
Have fun.

It is a nice BASIC Henry but it is not near as easy to program as a
Maximite.
Not enough analog inputs.
No 32 gig mass storage for data and programs.
No PC keyboard interface.
No PC LCD interface.
No battery backed up clock.
No hardware real time interrupts.
This is all in the Maximite. You need to get one and play with it.
It is by far the easiest computer to program and control real time
hardware there it.
