Looking at Sumit’s instruction file It appears that they are
enhancing the spark but trigger is done via a distributor set up.
How does the 2nd gen CAS with it’s 2 wheels 2 tooth and 24 tooth know
where the Eshaft is. Is there a procedure for installing the CAS to
get the correct position? Am I over thinking this?

Here is how to install the crank angle sensor.
However I would not use that. Take it out and save the weight.
Since you need two Summit CD's . One for the front rotor and one for
the rear. Use two RX8 type sensors with one tit on the trigger
wheel.
I would use two RX8 type sensors mounted on the front e-shaft 180
degrees out. The trigger wheel only needs one tit. Set the one on the
left to be on when the e-shaft is 22 degrees before top dead center.
Then the back rotor will fire 180 degrees later.
This means the engine will not stop if one reluctance sensor fails.
It will only run on one rotor which should get you to the nearest
airport.
You will also two waste spark coils. One for the front rotor and one
for the rear rotor.
This will work with a carb or a very simple Maximite EFI. It removes,
from the software, the need to calculate the ignition dwell. In
Tracy's software that was about one third of the code. If you use a
mass air flow sensor instead of a manifold pressure sensor that
further simplifies the software.

Do the leading and trailing plugs fire at the same time?
Can I use the sensors to feed the electronic injection Maximizes?
Is there any signal conditioning to feed the ignition and Maximizes or
does everything have a high enough impedance?

Yes with a waste spark coil. One for the front rotor and one for the
rear rotor.
You would need another maximite to calculate the time to fire the
second rotor if you used the stock 2nd gen CAS as it only puts out
one trigger pulse for the front rotor.
That is not necessary when using two RX8 type CAS's. One for the front
rotor and one for the rear rotor.
