The specs are much better.

Less current per 1000 RPM.

Works down to six volts. Thats great.

I cannot find a cost however.

   Pertronix CD has multi spark through the rev range.

   It does not claim to be a CD.
   There for dwell calculations may be required.
   BTW Dwell is built in to the old point type distributors.
   It was possible to adjust the dwell over a limited range.

   If you keep the points closed longer you increased the dwell.

   If we wanted to use an optical crank angle sensor we could
   simulate the old points type distributors. The plate would
   be slotted. The length of the slot would be the dwell time.
   At low RPM the dwell would be longer which is basically
   undesirable.. Same as a distributor.

On Pertronix website in the description of the Second Strike ignition just to the right of the photo of the unit it describes; "after the initial spark there is a very powerful second Capacitive Discharge spark".
