 I saw on E bay that Aeromomentum is selling their gear boxes for 2300
 ish dollars.  I e mailed them and they said they can build a box with
 a 3.1 to 1 ratio but it has about six weeks wait on the gears. Is
 there a big reason that a Planetary system is better?? just thinking
 it would be much faster to go this route...They claim HP up to 225. I
 was only shooting for 200..

 The big drawback is weight and thrust line off set on a rotary.

 Spur gears are one sixth as strong as planetary with the same gear
 width. That is why all aircraft engines use planetaries.

 Also it is a good idea to add a rubber coupling.

 It is worth a try but keep checking it and test extensively  where
 you can safely dead stick.

 Paul Lamar Paul, I have a rotary engine 13B with a real world
 solutions gearbox.  It is less than 3:1 and turns the prop opposite
 from conventional.  Has anyone published how to change it to
 conventional rotation. I plan to install in a mustang II.  I assume
 the prop shaft is connected to the ring gear.  Sorry about not going
  to the end of the msg.

No but I think it is possible.

You have to lock the ring gear  to the housing and take the power out
of the planet carrier. It will require a new prop shaft and prop
shaft bearings.

Maybe a better thing is buy some Iannetti apex seals and turbo charge
the engine.   Do you have  a prop ?
