This is the one. This is the actual flight that got the record.
One minute 40 seconds with only 500 HP of the 650 HP available.
The former record was 2 minutes. This is a huge change as aircraft records
are concerned.

The manifold pressure is only 73 inches of Hg while 85 inches of Hg is available.
This is due to an inadequate prop blade area.

11,000 feet was used to be sure we exceeded 3000 meters.

Dan Gray was the pilot.

People say they saw smoke. As you can see there is no smoke visible during
the flight. Smoke on start up is mostly due to oil in the turbo charger.

This record will not be beaten by a piston engine. It will take another
Wankel rotary to beat this record.
