    This may give us a greater ratio than 3 to 1.
    Probably around 4 to one. That means we can run the engine
    up to 11,000 RPM.

    Very little additional weight for the gear box.

    Requires 2 locked  ring gears to the housing.

    It is in  a BMW 323i  2000 up
    Transmission part number  5L40-E rear planet.

    Also BMW 325  2000 up.

    Also BMW 328  2000 to 2007.

    BMW 330 1999 up.

    BMW 528 2000 up

    Paul, I came across the double planetary concept a while back, and never had the time to look through the parts catalog. Are the pics you attached stock, with the welded opinions. Thanks for the research!

I would have to have one to work out the details of the 4 to 1 gear box.
