I just read a great book called "My Heart is Africa"
By Scott Griffin a Canadian.
He flew a C180 to Europe by way of the Azores and
then all over Africa for two years and then
back to Canada by way of Iceland.
Good roads were few and far between so light aircraft were
a good way to get around. A turbo rotary in a C180 would
have been great as there are a lot of tall mountains in Africa
to fly over. BTW he cracked a crankshaft in the process.
Amazing stories.
Here is a scan of his trip map. This was done starting in 1996
He worked for the Flying Doctors in Kenya for some of the time.
I was captivated by the wonderful second picture :-)
