Sir.
I am new in working with rotary engines. I am used to piston engines as they are in
germab#
cars. I have bought now a rx7 fc built in 1985 with no idea how to get the engine
started.
I bought it with the notice: the engine does not start properly. Do you have an
advice where to
start systematically?
regards klaus
Assuming the engine will turn over.
Take the lower spark plugs out and squirt
auto transmission oil into the engine.
Turn the engine over 180 degree and squirt some
more oil in. Wait 24 or 48 hours.
Take the exhaust manifold off.
Use a small screw driver inserted into the exhaust
port to see if all the apex seals are moving in and
out freely.
Put the spark plugs in and spray some starting fluid
in the intake. Either. It will ten start if the apex seals
are free.
The engine should start. Let it idle and warm up.
Always mix two cycle oil with the fuel when you run it.
2 oz per gallon of fuel. The apex seal lubrication system
will fail about ten years after the engine was built.
The nylon apex seal oil lines will crack.
The engine is heavy duty. More like a large truck engine.
If properly lubricated it will last for well over 500,000 KM.
It set the world record for time to climb to 3000 meters
in an aircraft when it was generating 650 HP.
