Hi Paul,

in 2014 some engineers have had the idea to integrate a RE into the "nose"
of an UAV. They have feared, that the unmanned vehicle could fall down on
their holy heads, because the uggly recip suddenly would break down ;-)

Better idea: using a rotary engine as main drive, so you don't have to worry
any more ;-)

So far I have not heard anything about the progress of the ignition system
project. Of course, development / construction + testing will take a lot of
time.

Think, each single spark does not have to be very strong - it's usually the
complete amount of energy, that "counts". Very "strong" sparks may increase
the wear of the electrodes too much (?)

And - this year the Tokyo Motor Show will take place again. Let's see, what
Mazda has to show ...

Nobody is working on the new ignition. It will take years before people
wake up. The current coil was invented in 1928.
